The ideal candidate will possess design and detailing experience in timber, steel, concrete, and masonry, as well as outstanding oral and written communication skills. Experience designing structures in California and excellent problem-solving skills are required. BWE successfully integrates 50 years of experience in Structural Engineering community with an innovative outlook and we are seeking to grow, strategically, with the appropriate addition to our structural engineering team. This is a full-time, in-person position.

We are looking for the right new team member with at least 4 years of practical Revit experience and knowledge of how a building gets constructed. An understanding of construction and structural plans and detailing is vital; engineering degrees and EIT’s are appreciated, but not required. All of our team members need to be able to work well with fellow technicians and engineers as well as be able to communicate well with clients. Our Revit and ACAD users need to be computer savvy continuously learning and growing with our team, keeping up with BIM and CAD standards of practice as well as construction practices for properly detailing the built environment. Team members must use this knowledge and skill to efficiently and accurately produce plans and details consistent with our standards and templates.

We currently have a great team; rich with technical ability, focused on customer service, full of character, and we are looking to have someone join us and make us an even better Structural Engineering department.

BWE is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to join our team.

Qualified candidates will hold a BS degree in Civil Engineering (PE preferred, EIT certificate required) with a minimum of five years of progressive professional experience. Candidates must be competent in the design of grading, drainage, utility, and public improvement plans. He/She must demonstrate an understanding of the approval requirements and processes of various local, state and federal agencies. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a must (Microstation experience a plus). Experience in the following areas will be given favorable consideration:

  • Hydrology Studies and LEED calculations
  • Storm water management reports, including SWPPP preparation
  • Writing/editing Specifications
  • DSA, OSHPD, and/or military experience
  • Design-Build delivery

The Civil Project Engineer will report to a Project Manager and work with Civil Designers. Excellent communication skills and customer service are essential. The position requires that the successful candidate relocate to San Diego, CA if not already in the area.

BWE is seeking a Civil Project Manager to join our team.

Qualified candidates will hold a BS degree in Civil Engineering and a California Professional Engineer license with a minimum of eight years of progressive professional experience, including a minimum of two years managing other team members. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing grading, drainage, utility, and public improvement plans. The Civil Project Manager is expected to develop and maintain client relationships as the primary point of contact for BWE. He/She must possess a thorough understanding of the permitting requirements and processes of local municipalities & school districts and DSA. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a must (Microstation experience a plus).

The ideal candidate will possess at least 8-10 years of office and field surveying experience and a valid California Professional Land Surveyor license is preferred.

Under the supervision of a principal, the position responsibilities will include planning, assigning, reviewing and producing final deliverables for every survey product. Essential Job Functions Include:

1) Knowledge of field/office surveying methods, practices, techniques, legalities and mathematical procedures for surveying.
2) Establishes procedures, techniques for determinations involving location of points, control lines, boundary lines and areas.
3) Advanced knowledge of principles and practices of surveying for engineering projects.
4) Ability to understand and interpret legal descriptions and record survey maps, understanding and interpreting boundary descriptions, diagrams, and notes.
5) Prepares and reviews topographic, photogrammetric, geodetic, hydrographic, property and right of way surveys.
6) Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to supervise, train, and evaluate subordinate office personnel.

  1. Knowledge of field/office surveying methods, practices, techniques, legalities and mathematical procedures for surveying.
  2. Ability to understand and interpret legal descriptions and record survey maps; understanding and interpreting engineering plans, diagrams, and notes.
  3. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center, desired. Ability to process field data, generate digital terrain models, adapt topographic and ALTA surveys, and perform reliable construction calculations.
  4. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to supervise, train, and evaluate subordinate field survey personnel.
