+ Senior Land Planner

BWE's Senior Land Planner is responsible for the management of Commercial, Mixed-Use, Retail, Entertainment, Residential, Industrial, Corporate planning and entitlement projects. The planner shall have an understanding of urban, suburban, and rural planning and land use principles and navigating the discretionary permit process for all municipalities in and including San Diego County.

The Land Planner will coordinate with BWE staff to provide service which exceeds our client's expectations. The Land Planner will develop new and maintain existing BWE client relationships.

Specific responsibilities of the Land Planner include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversee preparation of yield studies
  • Understand local and state development codes and zoning regulations including CEQA and coastal development permits
  • Develop conceptual site plans and land development feasibility studies
  • Research regulations and compile data and maps on a variety of planning issues
  • Prepare and present detailed site analysis, due diligence, and highest and best use plans, exhibits, and reports
  • Provide technical assistance to BWE surveying and civil engineering staff regarding site development issues
  • Prepare conceptual site plans in conformance with state, county, and local codes, plans, parking and other regulations to obtain entitlement and discretionary permits
  • Communicate effectively with city and county officials, clients, and co-workers
  • Make presentations to community and planning groups and at city council meetings
  • Prepare proposals and expand client base
  • Manage project schedules and budgets

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Planning, City and Regional Planning, or related discipline
  • AICP certification is desirable
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Capability to manage multiple projects
  • 5 to 10 years of local planning experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office and MS Project
  • Knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD and Sketch-up, are desirable

+ Civil Project Manager

BWE is seeking a Civil Project Manager to join our team.

Qualified candidates will hold a BS degree in Civil Engineering and a California Professional Engineer license with a minimum of eight years of progressive professional experience, including a minimum of two years managing other team members. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing grading, drainage, utility, and public improvement plans. The Civil Project Manager is expected to develop and maintain client relationships as the primary point of contact for BWE. He/She must possess a thorough understanding of the permitting requirements and processes of local municipalities & school districts and DSA. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a must (Microstation experience a plus).

+ Civil Designer (Drafter)

BWE is seeking a Civil Designer (Drafter) to join our team.

Qualified candidates will possess an FE/EIT certificate with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. Candidates will have a minimum of three years of progressive professional experience. He/She will possess strong AutoCAD Civil 3D skills for the preparation of grading and improvement plans for educational facilities, military facilities, and urban infill projects. Microstation experience is a plus. Experience with earthwork calculations and construction cost estimates is required. Knowledge of local Cities' and County design requirements and processing procedures are required and DSA, OSHPD, & military experience are a plus. Traffic control and erosion control plan preparation experience is a plus.

The Civil Designer will report to a Project Manager and work with Project Engineers. Excellent communication skills and customer service are essential.

+ Director of Civil Engineering

BWE's Civil Engineering department is looking to add an experienced and motivated Director of Civil Engineering to our core management team. The right candidate is ready to take the next step in their career and put their mark on our civil engineering department by building a culture of teamwork and design excellence. He or she should be a hands-on leader, willing to mentor and empower project managers, project engineers and designers to creatively develop solutions for our clients and their projects. The Director of Civil Engineering will work closely with clients and the design team to coordinate the completion of the design while ensuring quality standards, maintaining project schedules and staying within project budgets. He or she will develop and maintain a pipeline of diverse projects in various market sectors including commercial, residential, military, higher education, k-12 education, healthcare, civic and biotech. Experience with DSA, OSHPD, and design-build delivery are preferred. Excellent communication skills and organization are required. Having a passion for design and engineering will be vital in order stay current with industry advancements and regulatory changes.

 

Education, Experience, Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 15+ years of progressive engineering and management experience

+ Land Surveyor Office Position

BWE is seeking to fill a challenging opportunity for a self-motivated, energetic, analytical, highly competent, customer-focused Surveying Professional.

Candidate submitting resumes should enjoy being on the leading edge of surveying technology, including the desire to learn 3D Laser Scanning.

The ideal candidate will possess at least 1-3 years of office surveying experience, possession of a valid California LSIT certificate is desired but not necessary.

Under the direct supervision of a Licensed Land Surveyor, candidate responsibilities will include planning, assigning, reviewing and producing final deliverables for every survey product. Essential Job Functions Include:

1) Knowledge of field/office surveying methods, practices, techniques, legalities and mathematical procedures for surveying.

2) Knowledge of elementary principles and practices of surveying for engineering projects.

3) Ability to understand and interpret legal descriptions and record survey maps; understanding and interpreting engineering plans, diagrams, and notes.

4) Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy, plan and organize the work as a 1 man or 2 man field survey crew to achieve optimum efficiency.

5) Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to supervise, train, and evaluate subordinate field survey personnel.
