Experience

Athena serves as BWE’s Director of Marketing and Business Development, bringing more than a decade of experience and a passion for building relationships and driving success. Since joining the firm in 2021, she has helped modernize the firm’s brand while driving efforts to maintain a pipeline of work for engineers and surveyors.

Her work is rooted in building connections, whether it be through in-person collaboration or persuasive proposals that highlight her team’s commitment to client goals. Athena has played a key role in securing projects with both public and private entities, working with architecture and construction partners to deliver winning proposal packages as both a prime and sub-consultant. In addition, she leads BWE’s business development efforts, representing the firm at industry events and facilitating teaming opportunities.

Before entering the AEC industry, Athena spent six years in publishing and events, creating program content for clients in the commercial real estate and medical insurance industries.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

“Outside of work, you’ll usually find me tackling home improvement projects, gardening, or puzzling my way through an art-related project. I also travel any chance I get!”

What skill would you most like to learn?

“I always wanted to get into 3D animation, as the kid in me dreamed of designing video game worlds. On the flip side, I love working with my hands, so woodworking and making my own furniture and materials has always been very appealing to me.”

What is something that instantly makes your day better?

“Spending quality time with my loved ones is incredibly important and therapeutic to me. But throw in a video of a dog and bird being BFFs and I’ll ugly cry tears of happiness.”

What is your go-to karaoke song?

“‘What’s Up?’ – 4 Non Blondes, because who doesn’t love singing about roughly 10 emotions at once?”
