Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQ) at San Clemente Island
Military | Design-Build | Residential | LEED

A new bachelor enlisted quarters facility consisting of two, three-story buildings with 53 two-person units. Services included all associated utilities, patio and barbecue areas, walkways, horseshoe pits, Bocce ball courts, and a paracourse with path lighting, and drive isles. The project area was approximately 130,000 SF. Environmentally sensitive habitats to the north and west of the site were given appropriate consideration during the design. Sustainable design elements include photovoltaic cells, solar-domestic hot water heaters, dual plumbing, advanced metering, and enhanced commissioning to improve efficiency. An adjacent design-build BEQ project under construction required substantial coordination due to limited spacing and island conditions.
