Carlsbad Temporary & Permanent Fire Station No. 2

Civil Engineering | Land Surveying | Design-Build | Civic

BWE provided civil engineering and land surveying services for this design-build project that included the demolition and construction of a fire station, and construction of a temporary fire station until the new fire station was completed. The temporary fire station was completed in 2021, when fire crews and equipment were relocated to the parking lot of Dove Library in Carlsbad, CA. The temporary fire station totaled 3,688 SF and consists of living quarters, an apparatus room, and an enclosure for generator, trash and recycle storage. The new fire station is a 2-story, 11,000 SF facility with larger apparatus bays, living quarters, exercise room, and kitchen/dining area. BWE provided topographic survey and scanning, precise grading, site demolition, erosion control, site wet utility plans (sanitary sewer/water/fire), specifications, Water Pollution Control Plan (WPCP), and standard development storm water documentation. Public improvement plans for new water/fire/sewer/driveway/sidewalk, traffic control plans, and City of Carlsbad and Water District Agency processing were also included. The project was recognized with an Honor Award by the APWA in 2023.
