A design-build campus project that includes grading, utility and site improvements to accommodate a new educational building. The School of Career & Technical Education building is 44,142 SF and includes space for a Work Source Center and a community meeting room. It houses the Business Department, Office of Workforce Development and Corporate Relations, Environmental Sciences and Technology Department (Alternative energy, such as wind, solar and water; Water treatment, water use/reuse and conservation; Energy auditing and energy conservation; and Sustainability), Career Center, and Student Success Center.
The new SCTE building is qualified for LEED Platinum certification and will feature solar panels and wind turbines on its rooftop. Together, they will generate about 114 kW of electrical power. When the sun is out, the 364 solar panels will generate enough electrical energy to power approximately 85 average California houses.
