San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center
Parks & Recreation | Education | LEED

A new state-of-the-art visitors center, twice the size of the old pavilion. The project has a new 5,600 SF visitor/nature center building, outdoor improvements, which include a large covered assembly area, an observation deck, parking lot upgrades, park entry improvements and associated public improvements. A trail behind the visitors center provides access to an elevator to the second story. The new center is made out of recycled materials and has irrigated roof plants, solar panels and recycled water. It has interactive displays such as water features and high-tech educational displays. The center educates the public about local lagoon and environmental protection. We provided calculations and documentation to USGBC for LEED Sustainable Site credits. Our site utility plans also included recycled water lines to the new building.
